I have been experiencing daily life in China for about five years.. It is common that the cars take priority when it comes to green light for pedestrians.. This has long been discussed among expats, as well as Chinese friends.

This afternoon, in Pudong, Jinqiao area..  I was trying to cross the road when the -walking man- green light started flashing.. As usual, cars approached the pedestrian section with no hesitation and I had to slow down in order to stay one-piece and still breathing.  Suddenly, I saw two school boys (probably from the nearby international school) raising hand and stopping the attacking car with clear firmness... The car stopped while kids walked away and driver was surprisingly looking at the representatives of  the Minority Rule....  I looked at these young men and said "very good" with a smile...

Since I enjoy walking, I have had numerous cases like above..  Some times a family with baby in the cart, some times a couple and some times an individual trying to stop the aggressive like I practice as well.

China has been transforming incredibly fast and since the reforms to embrace the rest of the world, it has already made a remarkable progress.  Considering China`s huge population, its vast land, ethnic and cultural diversity, so far very encouraging progress has been made in different stage of the daily life while some fine tuning still to be made in order to get the desired life style...
